I let be some of quarry marking on this stone, while carving this piece. Those markings reminded me of the Chrysalis of a soon to be butterfly. It's a metaphor and a reminder for me of the transient state of life. From even unattractive beginnings, life may have the most beautiful outcomes. The stone itself is lime green soapstone. The finish varies from smooth to rough, with visible fractures, and inclusions bringing out the spirit of age. The pipe is brand new, yet looks as if it's been passed down from one generation to the next. The bowl is large by my standards. There is no carburetor on the medium sized drawtube.
